The GEOSUM
working group of the University of Cologne was formed to develop
integrated
scientific 3D modelling concepts and applied best practice guidelines.
Members
come from different geo scientific disciplines: Quaternary Geology,
Applied
Geophysics, Applied Geomorphology and Earthquake Geology, working on
different
aspects of the surface and shallow subsurface, from archaeology and
historical
geography, stratigraphy, sedimentary geology, hydro and engineering
geology to
geophysics.

Intergation of borlog-data
& geological maps & DTM-data.
GEOSUM uses the GSI3D (Geological Surveying and
Investigation in
3D) methodology and software tool to integrate and visualise all
available 1D,
2D and 3D geo-scientific records. These data sets are used to construct
3D
models of the subsurface for further analysing by functionalities
included in
the GSI3D methodology. Interpreted outputs of the generated spatial
information
can then be distributed in a wide range of CAD, GIS and 3D formats.
